The Benton Street Squeeze.

A tourist attraction in Hadleigh is the Benton Street Squeeze, performed all day, every day, all along the street on the roadway, on the pavement, the front door steps and on your toes.

Witness it at your risk!

The Benton Street Interest Group, (BSIG), is a group of residents whose aim is to reduce the traffic problems that exist along Benton Street.  We will talk to, prod and push the Councillors, the employees of Suffolk County Council, Babergh District Council and Hadleigh Town Council to ensure that Benton Street is a top priority.  In short we want things to change down Benton Street because it is becoming more dangerous every day.

We have badgered the Hadleigh Town Council and one local Suffolk County Councillor to state that the speed along Benton Street should be officially no more than 20 MPH.  Unfortunately, Suffolk County Council have declined this for reasons which we are fighting and which we will publish later.

We have completed an indepth analysis of what could and should happen along the B1070 through to Benton Street and beyond to reduce congestion and traffic along the street.  The Suffolk County Council have responded with a new signage scheme for Benton Street.  This ignores most of our recommendations.  We are still in communication with Suffolk County Council as to how we think the signs should be located.

More is happening behind the scene, we will publish these when they happen.
